in the pacific will be heading onshore. bundle yourself up this morning. definitely areas of northern california through oregon, washington state, cold air mass has settled in. temperatures in the 30s, typical for this time of year. nothing too brutal. the windchill is not bad either. the storm we're talking about, it's rotating and spinning around itself out here. one big storm went to the north heading just south of alaska. there's a couple other little pieces underneath it. slowly but surely all this mess will kick in to the west as we go through the next 48 hours. you can see the high, thin clouds sneaking into california, oregon and washington state. a huge area of high pressure tries to hold on for at least one more day. it's going to be a slow-moving system. once it starts raining on wednesday, a couple impulses that come onshore. then it looks like a three or four-day event and should kick out. the next 48 hours, notice the rainfall bullseye is here, central and northern california. again, that's 48 hours away. that will really add up when i show you the map tomorrow. today's forecast, e
shift. we'll see a very strong jet stream, aiming along the northern california coast. the bay area, on the outer fringe of this, monday, tuesday, a chance of rain, north of santa rosa you will see the rain at times, especially come tuesday. but the area south of san francisco, down tards san jose you may see highs in the upper 60s, close to 70. so now, the future cast, close to monday, tuesday, the san francisco bay area is dry, ongoing rain, areas north of santa rosa by monday, tuesday, could see another couple of inches of rain. this on top of the one and a half inches of rain we've seen. around the bay area, what you find as we wake up to the santa clara valley, heavy drizzle, light rainshowers early in the day of the transitioning south of morgan hill as we head through the afternoon. and then see a bit of a drier finish to the week i think for most of the bay area. temperatures in the east bay, low-to-mid 60s around pleasantton and livermore, close to 60 in san francisco. upper 50s to near low 60s around the north bay. as we see clouds spilling in, the filtered sunshine at tim

storm warnings, you can see the majestic color, those are warnings. northern california expected to get snow at higher elevations, but not so much in the cascades. not a lot of moisture available. so, the west definitely seeing some changes from that warm weather pattern we were in. you notice the snowfall predictions, many of the mountains of california, only expecting a couple of inches here or there. the mountainous areas of idaho and montana would be the jackpot of this storm. so, as far as the forecast goes for today, notice the cooler temperatures, chance of showers many areas of the west. and watch out, travel not advised up through idaho and montana this afternoon. that's a look at your national forecast. now he cooler air mass, the skies should fill in quickly. so, the good news, i guess, with this big storm in the northern plains, it's not going to head to the east coast. that area's going to be spared, for once. >> i guess we don't get a third whammy. >> no. >> bill, thanks so much. >>> well, congressman jesse jackson jr. won re-election but could lose with the feds? and elec

, because moisture in flow across northern california, plus these high winds creating a very messy situation. these high winds could be knocking down tree branches, knocking out power to many residents across this area, but not just that. the flashflooding potential. all this moisture pushing onshore is going to be bringing about 200 to 300 millimeters throughout the weekend. so from there in northern california you're going to be seeing that very high risk. that is a very heigl vags in the rockies, snowfall up to about 30, even 60 cent meters of snow in some of these higher areas. if you have plans on traveling across the area, any flights, do they can in on them ahead of time because this is going to be messy and potentially dangerous. talking about the snow, look at spain. cold air spilling across the north. in spain, that cold air mixed with a little bit of precipitation is ending up looking like this. i want to show you a video actually coming out of this area where the snowfall has been coming down and winter has reached spain as temperatures continue to plunge. the country has issued

the first signs of the storm across the northern california coastline. as you can see on live doppler 7hd, it is going to get in here in the morning, and as we show you our area right now, the moisture is just to the west. it is the leading edge of the storm we are watching. computer animationhows that shot the rain begins at 2:00 a.m. and the winds are kicking up over the higher elevations. 30 to 35 miles per hour, but the strongest wind and the heaviest rain during the 5:00 a.m. hour really continues. 8:00 a.m. it is still going pretty stormy and could see some thunder right on through:0n 10:00, 11:00 in the morning behind the front. it will turn showery at 1:00 p.m. ahead of the storm though we are expecting strong winds. a high wind warning has been issued from 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. winds gusting 55 to 65 miles an hour and could see gusts up to 75. a wind advisory for the rest of the area, and we are looking at the potential for downed trees and power outages and that's not all. 24r* are two more storms -- there are two more storms on the way. i will have a look at those. >> thanks.
to point right towards northern california. that's where the heaviest rains are going to be, up in the santa rosa area. that's because that's where the jet stream wants to stay. when you look at that satellite, you don't need me to tell you it's going to rain. now, organizing it and getting it together and the timing on this will be the trick. we have seen weather pat everyones like this before. this is not that atypical, but it's a good one. it's going to be productive for rainfall. could be bad if it doesn't get us those breaks. we have a break coming here and there, but those breaks are going to be crucial. this is one of those deals where i'm not going to sit here tonight ask say this is exactly how it's going to go. i'm going to tell you it's going to be wet. there's nobody that can tell you the timing on these yet. they just can't. so these are going to be kind of coming at us. but we're going to be fine, we're goes to get a lot of rain, especially in the north bay. you can worry some about the rivers and the creeks, we'll be keeping an eye on those. but i'm not going to t
